2021

Rest As Resistance: The Invitation (2021) premiered August 20, 2021 at Cube Fest 2021.  The piece was formatted for ambisonics spatial sound and presented on 120 speakers.   

2020

 

Being (2020)  Premiered on Reboot.fm on February 29, 2020, in conjunction Amplify Berlin.  Being is a 30-minute sonic sculpture that explores the depth and ephemeralness of existence.  The piece incorporates field recordings, synths, and samples from Alice Coltrane.    

2019

INVOCATIONS (2019) is a sound Installation by Magda Magdi and Shannon Sea. It is a cyborg manifesto that invokes magic incantations. It examines the way we deconstruct and reconstruct language(s), and the way we understand capitalist realism, and utopian or dystopian binary modes of thinking.  INVOCATIONS has been exhibited at the Empowe/AR Festival 2019 in Berlin, and the Venice Art Factory in Venice, Italy.

2021

 

Razing Liberty Square (to be released in 2022 on PBS).  A film documenting the development, decline and redevelopment of Liberty Square, Miami, the oldest segregated public housing community in the history of the United States. 

Yeye (2021) by Lois Alexander.  Yeye pays homage to Yemayá, the goddess of the sea and motherhood in the Yoruba pantheon. The movement piece explores memory, traces and notions of a motherland, moving through different levels of video, text and performance.

2020

 

Lauf und bring uns dein nacktes Leben (2020) by Rainer Merkel.  Lauf und bring uns dein nacktes Leben is a play set in Sierra Leone, that draws a captivating portrait of the local NGO microcosm.  It also outlines a relationship between Europe and Africa.

 

Neptune (2019 -2020) by Lois Alexander.  Neptune is a commissioned work that explores three states that are always subject to change, ice, liquid, and gas. The piece has been performed in Amsterdam and Berlin.  It is now on tour throughout the Netherlands.

New Growth (2019) by Nasheeka Nedsreal.  New Growth focuses on a variety of cultural and political struggles addressing black women and their standards of beauty.  It premiered at Ballhaus Naunynstrasse, Berlin, DE.
